WordCamp Calendar for May 2018

1st of May is labor day, but the sun shines brighter for WordPress enthusiasts as the WordCamp events for May are all set.

Here is a summary of some great upcoming WordCamp events:

WordCamp Porto PORTO
May 18–19, 2018

The Porto 2018 WordCamp will be held on 18th (Friday) and 19th (Saturday) May, at FEUP (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto).
The two days will be comprised of excellent presentations, sharing of knowledge, moments of conviviality and the traditional meeting of the WordPress community.
The first day will be dedicated to professionals, average and advanced users, programmers, designers, project managers.
The second day, the program focuses on the following: Design, Development, Content Creation, Marketing, Business/Entrepreneurship, Agencies and Freelancing, DevOps and large WordPress sites, Themes and plugins, Safety, Community and Open Source.
Here are some of the speakers that you’ll have a lot to learn from:
Olga Kuvshinova – Project Manager at SAU/CAL. We are on-demand, WordPress and WooCommerce experts dedicated to helping tech-savvy, e-commerce stores thrive in an increasingly digital universe.
Fernando Angulo – Fernando Angulo is a corporate speaker at SEMrush with over five years of practical experience in online marketing within our team. He is an Influencer Marketing trainer at the prestigious Brighton SEO. As an active member of the SEMrush marketing team, Fernando specialises in B2B search marketing, e-commerce, competitive intelligence and influencer marketing.
Craig Martin – Craig and his wife Linda have been travelling full-time since 2006: the same year they founded the Indie Travel Podcast, becoming one of the first pro-bloggers in the travel space in 2008. Craig spend three years on the board of the Professional Travel Blogger’s Association, the first President Elect. In 2014 they co-founded Performance Foundry, becoming one of the best WordPress services companies in the world, with managed WordPress hosting, development and optimisation. Through word of mouth recommendations, Performance Foundry has tripled in size each year.

 

WordCamp Belfast 25-27 May 2018
After a successful inaugural WordCamp in 2016, WordCamp Belfast is back.
The categories of users that will benefit from this event will be: developers, designers, bloggers, content users and business owners.
Here are some of the main speakers for this event:
Brecht Ryckaert: Brecht is a WordPress enthusiast from Belgium who has been using WordPress since version 1.5. He has 10 years of experience in the hosting industry and is well versed with security, performance and problem solving.
Chathu Vishwajith: Chathu leads two startup teams, who are working on Full stack development and WordPress services.He likes contributing to the community and currently acts as co-organizer of Colombo JS Meetup and organizer of Sri Lanka Unity Developers User Group.Chathu started using WordPress in 2008 and created his first live Sinhala WordPress blog in 2009.After some time he founded a start-up with his schoolmates which had WordPress web site development as one of its services. He works as the Co-Founder of Genius Soft Pvt Ltd and Auth0 Ambassador. He has created more than 20 WordPress websites for local and international clients.Chathu says he learned the hard way the ‘art of hardening WordPress security’. He explains that early in his career he had several security-related problems and managed to overcome through learning. This allowed him to handle massive DDOS attacks.
Corey Maass: Corey Maass is a full-stack web developer with a love for entrepreneurship and building web apps on WordPress.He built his first website in 1995, his first SaaS app in 2003, and his first WordPress plugin in 2009.In 2015, after 4 years of full-time WordPress development, he combined his passions and launched his first commercial plug-in, Kanban for WordPress.
The sessions will end with remarks & competition winners.

 

WordCamp Saint-Petersburg SAINT PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
WordCamp SPb 2018 will be held on May 26 at the SEMrush office and it ill be the launch of the first WordPress conference in St. Petersburg.
Even if the event takes place in a single day, the schedule is quite concentrated, starting at 9 AM in the morning and ending at 10:30 PM.
Some of the main speakers for this event will be:
Leonid Lukin: 20+ years experience in website development, 15+ years experience in internet marketing, 10+ years of experience teaching web technologies. The experience of creating and doing business in Russia and the United States. Currently – Director of Strategy and Business Development at Elvi Digital (USA). A participant of 5 WordCamps, including WordCamp USA (2017). Active member of 2 mip-groups – WordPress Users of the Palm Beaches and South Florida WordPress Meetup Group. Member of the expert group Happiness Bar during WordCamp Miami 2018. Experience using WordPress since 2005.
Denis Yanchevsky: WordPress developer since 2013. Author of plugins, articles and tutorial videos. Leading a podcast about WordPress. Participates in the translation of plugins and themes for WordPress, helps users on support forums.
In his speech, Denis will talk about forums dedicated to WordPress, groups in instant messengers and social networks, popular Youtube channels and blogs, as well as active members of the Russian-speaking community.
Varvara Lialagina: Varvara Lialagina is the author of the Start Blog Up project, which teaches communication and blogging for creative entrepreneurs. Varvara has been blogging for 14 years, now she’s leading the life-style blog, “The House I Want To Come to,” and because of her experience she knows everything about the complexities and traps that await the creation of a blog.
The event will be followed by an afterparty!
